The Rutland Regional Planning Commission and its Clean Water Advisory Committee will soon be reviewing the draft Otter Creek (Basin 3) Tactical Basin Plan prepared by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. The plan provides both best available data and assessments of surface water conditions in the Otter Creek watersheds. It also identifies current and future strategies for protecting high quality waters and restoring impaired ones.
The clean-up of Lake Champlain has given added importance to tactical basin plans. The Rutland Regional Planning Commission’s Clean Water Advisory Committee recognizes that there are no easy fixes and looks to this plan as a roadmap for the next five years.
The Rutland Region is home to several tributaries to the headwaters of the Otter Creek.
