Basin 9 Tactical Basin Plan Public Meeting to be Held in Randolph October 3rd

The Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission (TRORC) and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will be co-hosting a public meeting on the draft Basin 9 Tactical Basin Plan on Wednesday, October 3rd at the Randolph Town Hall from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

Basin 9 encompasses the White River watershed, which drains directly into the Connecticut River. The tactical basin plan being developed by DEC outlines current stream and river conditions, and uses scientific data, assessments, and prioritized project implementation to guide future actions to improve water quality.

Danielle Owczarski, DEC’s Basin Planner for Basin 9, will present on the basin planning process, projects and strategies that have been developed for implementation in the watershed, and high-quality surface waters that are candidates for reclassification.

Following the public meeting, TRORC’s Clean Water Advisory Committee (CWAC) will meet to discuss the Basin 9 Plan and provide input on projects listed in the Watershed Projects Database. CWAC will also assist with project identification and prioritization based on projects’ water quality impacts and feasibility.

A second Basin 9 Tactical Basin Plan public meeting will be held at the Royalton Academy Building on Thursday, October 11th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The public is invited to attend  both meetings and comment on the draft Basin 9 Tactical Basin Plan.
