Save the Date: Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier
Registration is now open for the 14th annual Vermont Lake Seminar. The Vermont Lake Seminar is the product of a partnership between the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Lakes and Ponds Program and the Vermont Federation of Lakes and Ponds. It is a day to celebrate Vermont’s waters and further inspire residents to participate in lake protection and restoration.
Science is the basis of managing our lakes and ponds, and this year we want to explore data and management tools with you! The theme of this year’s event is Partners for Healthy Lakes: Exploring Science, Data, and Tools Together. During a morning Lakes 101 session, Lakes and Ponds staff will cover lake ecology and how lakes function within a watershed. The afternoon will offer three different tracks to choose from, including a glimpse into the long-term water quality trends of Vermont lakes, how to form partnerships for funding projects within the watershed, and using data to model and plan lake restoration (bring your laptop or tablet if you choose this track!).
Coffee and light refreshments will be offered in the morning. Lunch will be held in the New England Culinary Institute (NECI) cafeteria on campus – you are welcome to bring your own lunch or purchase a delicious meal from the cafeteria.
