CVRPC Hosts Joint Training for Municipal Road Erosion Inventory Guidance

The Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission hosted a joint training with the Vermont Agency of Transportation on May 26th to learn and share ideas on the interim Municipal Road Erosion Inventory Guidance. 30 planners from all of Vermont’s 11 Regional Planning Commissions, the VT Agency of Natural Resources, and the VT Agency of Transportation attended. The training included both a table top discussion and infield assessments of several erosion sites in East Montpelier, VT.

The ideas shared at this training will be incorporated into the interim inventory guidance sent out to all municipalities who are awarded a Better Roads category. A inventory grant this year (FY 17). CVRPC’s GIS Planner Dan Currier captured the essence of the training; “this provides us with an opportunity to bring our collective municipal, roads, and water quality knowledge together and learn how best to deliver a meaningful and complete inventory for our municipalities”.

The interim inventory guidance will be in effect until 2018 when the final Municipal Roads General Permit requirements and inventory guidance are released.
